Chania Cruise

The small greek Venice

Getting lost in the colours of the Greek islands while the setting sun shines over the horizon, will be sensational. You will clear your head of all thoughts and feel one with this display until you will only sense a vital need to be lulled by the waves of this ancient sea.

An MSC Mediterranean Cruise will take you to Chania on the northwest coast of Crete, an extraordinary city bathed in the Aegean Sea, where nature and architecture are fused to create an amazing spectacle. You will walk on archaeological trails immersed in nature following the footsteps of the Minoan civilisation.

The destination of one of the MSC Excursions will be the archaeological site in the city of Minos where once stood the evocative palace of Knossos dating back to the Bronze Age. The king converted it into a majestic 22,000 m2 labyrinth in which he imprisoned the Minotaur, the legendary half bull and half man creature. You too can find Ariadne's thread inside the palace among the vast courtyards, stairways, apartments and the royal throne room with its precious frescoes.

With an MSC Excursion along the ancient Venetian walls of the city of Rethymno, you will get the impression of stepping into the past. You will visit the remains of the Acropolis of Rethymno on the hills of Palaikastro and discover the mighty fortifications designed by Sanmicheli in 1538, which Sforza Pallavicino transformed into a pentagonal fortress from which to dominate the city. At the centre of the fort, you will find the Ibrahim Khan mosque with its serene and peaceful atmosphere.

Another MSC Excursion will take you to the wild Akrotiri peninsula where Agia Triada, the orthodox monastery of Crete, is located. Both spiritual and artistic contemplation will give you peace of mind and serenity in this temple of silence, meeting the monks while they take a meditative stroll surrounded by magnificent nature full of colours. You will not find a better place to taste the raki, the local grappa produced by the local monks.
